Our workshops.

Hand-building workshop.

During this 3-hour workshop, you get to decide exactly what you want to make. Think of a coffee cup, teacup, small bowl, candleholder, plant pot, or a small vase—anything goes.

You’ll learn two different hand-building techniques that you can use to shape your own creation. The first part of the workshop is all about creating, exploring, and having fun with clay.

What makes this workshop special is that it’s not just about working with clay. You’ll also get to decorate your creation: using glazes, you can add color, character, and your very own personal touch! For this workshop, we use special glazes (non-toxic, of course) that can be applied directly to the raw clay. There are about 20 different colors available that you can mix and match however you like.

After the workshop, all creations will remain in the studio to dry and will be fired at 1200 degrees. You can pick up your work about a week later. Everything you make is dishwasher-safe and can be used in the oven or microwave.

You’ll work with a color of clay of your choice and learn the basics of pottery wheel throwing step by step: from centering the clay to shaping your creation. At the end of the workshop, you’ll select your favorite piece, which Laura will then carefully finish for you. For the finish, you can choose between a matte or transparent glaze.

Once dry, your creation will be fired at 1200 degrees. Within two weeks, your creations will be ready for pickup—completely food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and suitable for use in the oven and microwave.

Whether you’re sitting behind a potter’s wheel for the first time or already have some experience, this workshop is all about creativity, relaxation, and having fun with clay. It’s an inspiring experience that’s sure to leave you with dirty hands and a big smile.
